Dental Bridges in Reno, NV

What are dental bridges?

Dental bridges are used to replace a row of one or more missing teeth. They use two dental crowns that are designed to fit over two healthy “abutment” teeth, and suspend a row of one or more false teeth in the gaps where you’ve lost one or more teeth.

Bridges have been used for decades to replace missing teeth, and they’re a great option if you want to restore multiple teeth with a natural, comfortable restoration but are not interested in dental implants in Reno. Contact Westside Dental Studio now for an appointment or learn more below. Don't hesitate to stop by our office located at 620 Humboldt Street, Reno, NV 89509.

How Does The Dental Bridge Process Work?

  • Tooth preparation – At your first appointment, Dr. Chelsea Dean will clean your mouth, numb the treatment area, and then remove some enamel from the two abutment teeth that will hold your bridge in place.
  • Impressions & creating the bridge – Once your teeth have been trimmed and prepared, Dr. Chelsea Dean will take impressions and images of the teeth and send them to a dental lab, where your final bridge will be built. You’ll be sent home with temporary crowns to protect your newly-trimmed teeth.
  • Final bridge placement – When your final bridge arrives at Westside Dental Studio in 2-3 weeks, you’ll come back for your last appointment. Dr.Chelsea Dean will check the fit of the bridge, then bond it into place permanently to complete the procedure.

Types Of Dental Bridges

Traditional fixed bridges are the most common type of bridge. As mentioned previously on this page, they use two crowns that attach to healthy teeth and hold one or more false teeth in the gaps where you’ve lost your teeth.

Cantilever bridges are sometimes also used. These are basically the same, but attach to only one tooth. They are used if there are not two healthy abutment teeth that can be used to restore your tooth.

Maryland bonded bridges are also sometimes used for front teeth. The primary difference between these bridges and fixed bridges is how they’re held into your mouth. Instead of crowns, Maryland bridges use “wings” made of metal that are bonded to the back of your healthy teeth, so they don’t require your teeth to be trimmed.

The Benefits Of Bridges

Compared to partial dentures, bridges are more stable, look and feel more natural, and require less special care and maintenance. They also last longer, so they’re a better long-term solution for missing teeth.

Compared to dental implants, bridges don’t last quite as long. However, the treatment time is a lot faster, the procedure is less invasive, and bridges are usually cheaper than dental implants and are at least partially covered by insurance.
